Supporting yourself after a Healing Session
The following is a list of ways to get the most out of your healing session and support yourself through the unfolding of your new way of being.
Drink more water than you usually do. This will help to hydrate you and help to flush away any toxins that may have been released during the session.
Take a very warm Salt bath. Use a cup and a half of Sea Salts or Epsom Salts and soak for a minimum of 20 minutes to ease any aches, pains or nausea that may occur.
Be gentle with yourself. You may feel unusually open and vulnerable after a session. Give yourself time to readjust before jumping back into the everyday stress of life. Practice Loving-Kindness meditation or other self-compassion techniques.
Spend time in Nature. Nothing balances and stabilizes one faster or easier than the natural world.
Write about your experience during the healing session in your journal. This helps to integrate your session and also gives you a record to look back on. You can use words or pictures or any other creative expression that feels right to you.
Express your feelings with those who are willing to listen and can allow you to share without trying to “fix” you or the situation. Allowing yourself to freely express your emotions in a safe environment will continue the flow of energy and help the release of stagnant issues that may have been held in your body.
Now is not the time to make life changing decisions. Give yourself a few days to let the energy from the session settle in and integrate with your system.
Now is not the time to go shopping or to be in crowds. Allow yourself some alone time to reorganize your own energy before being exposed to the energy of others.
This is not the time to engage in conflict or confront others. If a situation comes up, explain that you are in a vulnerable place and will revisit the issue at a later time.
Get plenty of sleep. Climb into bed with some herbal tea and a good book or listen to soothing music.
Pay attention to your dreams. This work can bring up messages from your subconscious mind. Keep a dream journal and write down your dreams when you wake.
Other forms of aftercare include Meditation, Dance, Yoga and Tai Chi.
