Covid 19 update: I have cautiously begun to see clients in person again. Because I often work with people with compromised immune systems, I am continuing to wear a mask during healing sessions and I ask that my clients do so as well. I also have a rigorous sanitizing protocol and a powerful air purifier.
However, if you are still uncomfortable with in person visits, I will continue to offer stress reduction techniques, inner parts work, spiritual counseling and distance energy healing via zoom or phone. See the book an appointment tab for more details.
Body Wisdom Healing(BWH) is a subtle yet powerful form of bodywork that can bring about deep and lasting changes, insights, healing and personal evolution.
Sometimes we just get stuck or life hands us a challenge that we don’t feel equipped to handle on our own. I get that. I’ve been there, and I’ve found that asking for help is not about weakness but is actually the first step on the path to a deeper sense of empowerment. My entire practice is built around helping you to find that self-empowerment no matter what your current circumstances.
stress Relief
It is no secret that we live in stressful times. Constant stressors keep our nervous system stuck in the “on” or “fight or flight” position which never allows us to fully rest and restore our energy levels and sense of wellbeing. This ability to calm our nervous system is essential for all levels of healing to take place. The gentle hands on approach of Body Wisdom Healing combined with mindfulness and meditation techniques that you can do at home can rebalance your nervous system and restore the natural ebb and flow of activation and rest so that you can be fully present and engaged with your life in the ways that are meaningful to you.
trauma release
In recent years the approach to treating trauma has changed dramatically. We now know that trauma gets stored in the body and because of this, we need to engage the body in healing. Also, because of the ACE study, we now know that many of the common ailments in our society, from anxiety and depression, substance abuse, chronic illness, heart disease, autoimmune disease and ADD/ADHD and more, can be traced to experiences of childhood trauma and these symptoms may not surface until many years, even decades, after the event or events occurred. I have studied with and learned from some of the leading experts in the field of trauma, including Bessel Van der Kolk, Peter Levine, Richard Schwartz and others who are masters at integrating the body with trauma treatment and I am certified in Somatic Psychotherapy. Through my own work I have developed a protocol that combines Body Wisdom Healing with eastern and western psychology to create a gentle and effective way to identify and release these painful and often confusing patterns.
spiritual connection
I define spirituality as: That which connects you to something larger than yourself. So whether you have a traditional spiritual practice, are still seeking or consider yourself an atheist, we can work together to find a way for you to have a deeper, more authentic and fulfilling relationship to your larger community, however you define that. While I am open to all spiritual traditions, my own background is that I have studied and practiced zen buddhism for 25 years and have been a teacher and mentor in that tradition for several of those years. My experience has taught me that there is no one true way and the path to finding the right approach for you is a unique and creative process.
creative integration
Sometimes our issue isn’t any of the above. We simply feel stuck in habitual patterns and activities that were once rewarding but don’t carry that same spark anymore. We want something different but don’t know where to look or how to start. This is when creative problem solving can be helpful. In my work as a professional artist, I have developed creative exercises and strategies that can help you to see your situation with fresh eyes. Creativity is our birthright as human beings and I can say unequivocally that you are a creative person-even if you don’t think of yourself in that way. Unfortunately, many of us carry what I call “creativity wounds”. By that I mean that someone at sometime told you that you were not creative, or made you think that only artists are creative or some other falsehoods that led you to deny your own innate gifts. I am here to tell you that they are not lost, they just need to be uncovered, and that reclaiming a sense of creative inquiry and play is essential to discovering how to create a richer, deeper and more fulfilling life.
